Biography
Lisa Franken started playing the piano and cello at the age of three. Her musical studies started at the age of 16 and she chose both instruments as her main subject. She studied at the conservatory of Cologne, Brussels and Maastricht and completed the study of performing musician for both piano and cello with distinction. Concert trips brought her to numerous Western European countries and also to Russia and Jordan. She has won numerous prizes and awards at competitions and festivals.
Over the years Lisa Franken has been active as a chamber musician, in ensembles from duo to octet. She received time contracts with various orchestras as a solo cello. Several CDs were also created during this time with recordings of classical, light classical and own arrangements of tango and film music.
Since 2010 Lisa Franken lives in the Netherlands and gives concerts in the Netherlands and other European countries. Her main focus is on solo performances where she changes the instruments during the concert. Since 2016 she has been a principal subject teacher for violoncello at the renowned Anton-Rubinstein Academy.
